We are forced to recognize the value of being in a group setting and interacting with people we see in our work lives or everyday settings. This can help us become productive and meaningful members of our society. Using technology such as Instagram and Facebook, this can give Millennials a disadvantage in being able to relate to Traditionalists or Baby Boomers (Engleberg & Wynn, 2005, p.94). The average age on the University of Southern Maine Campus is 32. This can create a rift in how to understand and can be part of a group process to meet common goals and function in our modern society. We need to make sure these gaps in age do not trend and create high and low contexts in our society. This can lead to social bias and less objective behavior in group settings. The idea research in the field of subsets among generations can help examine and make groups interdependent on each

Generations each possess individual values, attitudes, and goals that strike them apart from one another, thus creating a gap. This gap is like a barrier that keeps the different generations distinct. As for the different attitudes of life, the people belonging to the old generation always wonder what has gone wrong with the new generation. They feel that during their time, young boys and girls were better behaved, more obedient and had greater respect for elders. Young people, on the other hand, feel that they are capable enough to learn on their own rather than lean heavily on the older generation for guidance.…

Compare & Contrast Leadership Styles In our text, Leadership is defined as “An area of study marked by the examination of the behaviors of others” (p.378). After reading about the three styles of leadership which are transformational, transactional, and servant leadership, I instantly thought about a scripture which says “Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care, watching over them—not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not pursuing dishonest gain, but eager to serve; not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock” (1 Peter 5:2-3, New International Version). Before I start uncovering the similarities between theses three leadership styles, I’m going begin by defining…

There are three different leadership styles with many variations in-between. The difference in these three leadership styles is the level and location of control. At one extreme is the autocratic leader, which makes independent decisions on how to proceed. On the opposite end of the spectrum there are laissez faire leaders, which have a hands-off approach and allows the subordinates to make all the decisions. However, the democratic leader is the medium of the three, which allows more input of the decision making process for his or subordinates.…
