Saint Cloud: An Intertextual Analysis

In order to find objects and environments that I could relate to art history that I have learned in this class I decided to take a walk around my neighborhood and its nearby surroundings. I live in Kissimmee and extremely close to Saint Cloud so I decided to start off by looking around the Lakefront Park area. At first I did not think that I would be able to find many things that I would be able to relate to art, but I think that is because I had never actually tried to pay attention to small details. The area of Saint Cloud that I began looking at has a lot of very old homes that I found to be very interesting and that I knew I would be able to make a connection with something in the textbook. I took a picture of it because I knew that I had seen something with similar characteristics, but I just could not remember what it was. After going through my textbook I realized that the windows of the house that I had seen while leaving the park were very similar to the windows located on the Dome of the Chapel of the Holy Shroud, “which is a round structure attached to Turin cathedral” (Davies et al. 2011, p. 682). The windows in the Dome of the Chapel of the Holy Shroud are rounded and have six separate sections with another smaller circle in the middle that contains four smaller sections, which is very similar to the windows of the home. The windows I saw on my way home are rounded and contain seven sections with another smaller circle in the middle with no sections. The style of the windows are almost exactly the same and I found it to be interesting that I would be able to compare something to the Dome of the Chapel of the Holy Shroud that is so close to where I
