Acting Class Reflection

Decent Essays
Since I was young, I have loved watching movies. It is the only thing I can do all day long. And I have admired actors, thinking that acting is something that I cannot even try, which is meant for someone special and talented. Before I came here, I knew there was an acting for non-major class. I wanted to take the class, but I did not have courage to take this class and I just wanted to stay in my comfort zone. As I came here, however, everything was a challenge. After I realized that, I said to myself that there’s no place to avoid and this whole semester is the opportunity for me to try new things that I never did. Then, I decided to take this class.
My primary goal of taking this class was to improve my English speaking. I major in English Education but I have a lack of confidence speaking English. All the activities written in syllabus, especially monologue seemed like a great opportunity to improve my English. Also, I wanted to learn how to express

It was hard to pick impressive moments that everyone would understand and to show the whole movie with just 2-3 actors. Mirror activity, which each people should imitate their own partner, was hard for me and I didn’t really understand how this activity helped us practicing acting. If it’s an exercise of imitating other’s facial expression or creating our own way of explaining specific situation, I would think it might help acting. However, it was a creating a movement that a partner can easily follow so it was hard for me to understand the point of

Throughout the course of this semester, taking TCF 201 has taught me about, even though I come to the conclusion that going in this direction of actually being a filmmaker is not for me, in the end. However, it did teach me a great deal. I never knew how much work could go into producing and directing your own work, I mean I had a general idea, but nothing to this magnitude of the amount of work that it takes, plus the hours of sleep that I have lost took a toll on me as well. But it was all worth it.…

John Reith is a titled one school, meaning the majority of the students receive free or reduced lunch. I was able to see a different approach on how to grab the audience’s attention from the other director’s performance. The scene at the same time was very comical, but also held you on the edge of your seat with its high tension and wonderful transformation of a relationship between two characters on stage. This really grabbed my attention and taught me that a transformation of a relationship on stage really enriches the performance. Overall, the knowledge I gained from this activity in class really helped me establish a foundation and base for the mechanics of…

With an abundance of new characters in “When Calls the Heart” this season, sometimes only the most observant viewers might notice the handful of smaller roles that pop up now and then on the show. I was immeasurably excited when I finally figured out who the character Katie Yost was, and once I connected with the actress who portrays her, Larissa Albequerque, I knew at once that I wanted to find out more about this young actress. Thankfully, she was able to set aside some time recently to chat about WCTH as well as give insight into the occasionally overlooked Katie Yost. What inspired you to become an actress? From the time I was 7 or so, I was fascinated with acting.…

“Like all behavior, discrimination is connected to how we think and feel about people,” while prejudice plays a role in both fueling discriminatory behavior and providing roles in order to justify those ideas or feelings (Johnson 47). There are many ways that people feel discrimination, such as in the play, Children’s Hour. Throughout this play, Karen and Martha were assumed to be homosexual by a young girl named Mary, and because they were thought to be lesbians, other people such as the parents to the young children began to assume that Karen and Martha were unfit to run the school or even teach their young girls (Hellman). This was a substantial form discrimination towards both Karen and Martha, and at the time, completely destroyed their…
