On November 10, 2015, I went to an orphanage in Bangkok with my mom. We donated my clothes, books, and toys. We also bought art materials, more toys, and more clothes for the children. I played with the kids, entertained them, feed them, and saw their life routine. As I get to see their lives, I reflect on my life quality. I have more opportunities: to have a better education, buy fancy clothes, buy electronic devices, and travel worldwide. I am aware of the large gap between the rich and poor as well as common issues in Thailand such as teen moms, poverty, and so on. Even though the children at the orphanage seem happy, it would be better if they have a better opportunity and life quality.

I dug up soil, using both shovel and my bare hands, in an area nearby. Then, I put the plant into the dug hole and covered the surface with soil to complete the planting steps properly. I realized that planting trees requires patience and determination. It is not just putting those plants into the soil, but there are also important steps that I need to consider. The space between each plant will affect its growth, meaning that it can die if it is placed too close. Also, I must take the plant out of the plastic bag that was wrapped around it first because the plant is unable to grow as it is known that plastics are not degradable. Even though it takes hard work and effort, I think that it is not too difficult for people to return these trees to Earth. Everyone can help if they have the intention. Planting trees made me more aware of the decrease in trees, global warming, and environmental …show more content…
My friends and I helped out at their pop-up booth in a mall in Bangkok. We talked to people that come to the mall about the organization and encouraged them to adopt the cats. I also took care of the cats that were there. I feel glad that many people are interested in adopting the cats from PAWS. It saves money, decrease the number of stray cats, and it showed that the owner really loves and cares for the cat.

I plan to go to other provinces in Thailand for community work. In March 2018, my friend and I planned to go to Samui island, located in the south of Thailand, to visit a dog shelter for four days. We researched that we can walk the dogs, help fundraise, and look after the dog’s health. I wish to continue doing volunteer works throughout the times in university and beyond. Community services are not only fun, but I feel good doing something for others that need the help and doing something for the Earth that I am living

I have donated time in my city, state, country and internationally. Through the many opportunities that I have had for community service, I have been able to broaden my views, and look outside my community at how others experience our world. I have visited very diverse communities ranging from the inner city of Detroit, MI to a small, economically depressed village in Honduras, to the mountains of Pennsylvania and inside homes very different from mine in my own…

For my sixty hours of volunteer work I decided to volunteer at a Child Life Center which was in a poverty stricken area in Norfolk, Va. At the child life center my job as a volunteer was to assist the children with their homework, help the staff monitor the children on local field trips, as well as serve as a positive role model for the children. The experience I had at Park Place Child Life Center was one I will honestly never forget. Although I didn’t get any actual counseling experience, I was able to learn the ways that the non-profit organization received their funding, I was able to gain experience in working with the youth, and I was also able to make a positive impact on the lives of children who were considered “at-risk youth”. To go there every day and be able to see the change the children had in their behaviors and how much just some attention and affection from adults impacted their behaviors was honestly amazing.…

When I decided to volunteer at the Del Amo Gardens Care Center, I wasn’t quite sure if I was emotionally ready. In March of 2013, my grandpa suffered a very severe stroke. It caused so much damage that it paralyzed half of his body, so we had to put him in a nursing home. Shortly after starting my volunteering, however, any negativity faded away as I was eager to assist with the activities.…

14.7 million children live in poverty. I am one of them. And yet, no one seems to notice me or care. It was a cold summer night and I could see the sun setting over the lake as I was arranging the lawn chairs around the campfire. I tried to dodge the clouds of gnats as I was running back and forth getting all the cards, snacks, and music ready. Just as I finished I saw the thirty teenagers walking up the long path to the camp directors house ready to participate in an evening activity I planned for them. I watched the girls race to get seats on the lawn chairs and helped the others find seats so they didn’t have to sit on the wet grass. The girls were laughing and having fun…

More than one billion children in the world are deprived of at least one of the basic necessities. According to the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) "children living in poverty are those who experience deprivation of the material, spiritual and emotional resources needed to survive, develop and thrive, leaving them unable to enjoy their rights, achieve their full potential or participate as full and equal members of society". Poverty limits children's opportunities for education, puts them at risk for health problems and increases the likelihood that they’ll be subjected to child labor or early marriage. Poor children are hungry and at risk for malnutrition, underdevelopment and stunting, which can have serious health consequences later…

I completed my infant observation at the University Child Development Center. The University Child Development Center specializes in childcare for infants all the way up to children age 12. The infant I observed was about eight months of age and was placed in a classroom that usually has a relatively small number of infants for better one on one attention. As I completed my observation, I observed all five developmental domains which include physical, emotional and social, cognitive, adaptive, and language and communication.…
