Throughout the entirety of the lesson, there was little of relating the content to the students’ lives. There was one instance in the lesson that I was able to, but it was only with one group of students during the mini-lessons. During this portion, I had a multiplication problem that dealt with pies (which allowed it to be correlated to Thanksgiving that just occurred last week). I do believe that this needs more work however, because it only reached a portion of the students, instead of all of the students. Since my expectations were so high, it probably caused the students to feel defeated throughout the lesson. If the expectations would have been a little bit, not a lot since student expectations are supposed to be high, it would have allowed the students to feel less stressed about the material, and focused more on the content rather than finishing the work completely while making mistakes. I believe that teachers should have high expectations of their students, but if they are too high it causes nothing but frustration for both the teacher and the students. It would have made a difference in my student’s learning because it seemed like a good portion of them were upset that they were unable to successfully complete all of the
