A Test Of Time

This course is different to those being taught at that time. We investigated the latest and most radical archaeology which proved the historical accuracy of the Bible, even though written by a non-Christian. David Rohl radically reshaped the history of Israel in his book ‘A Test Of Time.’1 Rohl questioned the false basis for the timeline of Egyptian kings and in doing so he swept away hundreds of years of unbelief. I dared to teach this radical stuff to my pupils. I dared to teach that the Bible is true! It was almost like the Holy Spirit approved. Several times during my teaching the presence of the Holy Spirit fell on the classroom and the students became motionless as the Spirit rested upon them. I didn’t realize this so I lectured on, and only when I asked a question did I realized my students were ‘gone’. Not a sound, totally besotted with the ‘Presence of the Lord.’ In biblical terms you might describe it as the Hand of the Lord rested heavily upon the class as He did upon Elijah: ‘And the hand …show more content…
After church one day the Holy Spirit descended on the prayer room, the air itself seemed to become heavy. Amazing is the only way to describe the events which followed. The room contained about twenty people of all ages including two in their eighties. He touched our hearts with joy, JOY! A joy so wondrous we began whirling around, dancing and shouting at the top of our voices in praise of the Lord. Like whirling dervishes we spun around and around cheering and praising God as we went. It was so wonderful being touched by God. We kept that up for some time, perhaps forty minutes when we suddenly stopped, puffing, facing each other with broad, beaming smiles. We all knew we were being touched by God and it was so much FUN! Now remember two octogenarians puffed along with us and with not a hint of

Give examples of how the practice of ministry has affected your experience and understanding of A) God At the core of my understanding of God is a God of love in covenantal relationship with God’s children. Romans 8:38-39 says it well; “For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” The practice of ministry has only proven to strengthen that belief. I was called early Saturday morning to sit with a family who had just learned of the death of their daughter/granddaughter in a vehicle accident.…

Finally, I memorized the whole thing and I was so glad. I remember eating lucky charms and reciting it to my mom and dad with a big smile on my face. This experience and memory is important to me because this was one of the many times that my parents helped me grow closer to the lord. Due to homeschooling, I was able to memorize many bible verses that I still have in my heart today. This experience reminds me that the Word is living and active.…

About two years ago, I moved to Grass Valley, CA. Truly I tell you, this was a brand new experience. My whole life was centered around the city of Elk Grove, my previous city. My friends, family, and everything were there. The day I moved was exciting, a chance for new experiences, but at the same time I felt something new: pain.…

When I was in the first grade, I was considered a goody two-shoes because I followed all the rules and got good grades, but I never really believed that I deserved the nickname until one day on the playground. My friends and I decided to play Follow the Leader. As we continued to play the game, we started to sing all of the songs we had learned in class. I began to wonder, are we allowed to sing outside during recess?…

Leadership on the line by Ronald A. Heifetz and Marty Linksys is a very timely book. Maggie’s description of her Indian community and the effects of alcohol made me think of many urban communities and the pain that lurks in those communities. The stories she shares about Lois and the heart she had for her community and desire to make it better make you think we need more leaders like that. Lois leadership inspired me because she saw something wrong in her community she believed she could bring change. Lois is a good picture of servanthood she doesn’t sit and think someone should so something…

I chose The Daughter of Time by Josephine Tey as my summative novel. In spite of the book’s notable dialogue and historically persuasive argument of King Richard III’s innocence, I do not recommend this book. The pace of the novel is stagnant because the author provides overly intricate narration of the character’s thoughts as well as England’s historical events. Tey meticulously describes the protagonist Alan Grant’s analysis of Richard III. Moreover, I do not take pleasure reading this book since throughout the story, the protagonist’s disposition remains undeveloped.…

The manuscripts that are being uncovered are papyrus manuscripts, and are very valuable for the New Testament. This explains why there are so many critics about the New Testament because there are still manuscripts being discovered. Chapter twelve is titled, “The text of the Old Testament”. Reported in this chapter is that the Aleppo Codex and the Leningrad Codex are the best Hebrew Manuscripts. But they date no farther back than to the tenth and eleventh centuries.…

In order to uncover unknown information from an ancient civilization, archeologists usually do extensive digging and research in a specified area; however, to uncover truths about Jesus Christ, there was no removal of dirt, as the world 's most sold book was dug into. Although Christianity continues to be the most popular religion, scholars came together in a Seminar, seeking to find the provable truth, which leads to unpopular conclusions. Throughout the article entitled, The Gospel Truth? by David Van Biema, the question of Jesus and the two lenses through which we see him, faith and history, are explored, conclusions are made, and reactions are instant. Instead of believing by faith and tradition, the Jesus Seminar is an attempt to identify…

Not In a Corner I Divine Healing always is always a controversial topic in both Christian and secular circles. It was commanded as an essential ministry by Jesus and was intimately tied to the proclaiming of the Gospel. It has been faithfully sought after in prayer by the Christian Church through the ages to the present. “Is any one of you sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord, and the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; and the Lord will raise him up.…

A well-taught class is one that provides you with proper knowledge on the subject, while simultaneously putting the subject matter in the larger context of a shared history and current affairs. For centuries religion has been in conversation with almost every academic pursuit created by man. Naturally, the argument of how religion should be taught in schools is part of the argument on the best way for American students to be taught, as it should be. Currently, public schools, especially secondary schools, are merely ignoring religion altogether and have silently agreed to keep it largely outside of academic conversation. However, ignoring religion is a fruitless effort that negatively affects students.…
