As similar case as a price down by General Mortars, there were several price wars in a restaurant industry in Japan almost every year. For example, these days, three popular Japanese Beef Bowl restaurants have started a price down again even though they were in financial difficulties in 2009 because of an unreasonable price cut to keep their own shares in a market. From consumers’ perspective without sociological eyes, a price down looks just a good event and I didn’t feel any thing when I watched a commercial at the first time. However, because my older cousin experienced to work at one of the chain stores, I began to observe the situation from another perspective. In addition, advertisements can control our economy not only positively but also negatively. When I think back on this event related to my cousin now, it was an opportunity for me to notice how much I didn’t concern about others, especially when the event didn’t have a big impact on my own life. If we get sociological eyes gradually towards society where I live, everyone should realize this antilogy that it would not be economically feasible to run companies in a low cost without someone’s “corporation” such as my cousin’s suffering. To obscure these dark sides of a company management, companies emphasize good effect of events by using advertisements. Dr. Hughey taught us that advertisements manipulate us every single moment. Actually, when these three beef bowl companies promoted their price cut at the first time, they explained about their price cut was a limited-period fair. Therefore, many customers didn’t pay special attention to the reason why they suddenly started such event, and then we finally questioned and claimed when workers at restaurants quit their jobs suddenly at the same time. That is, workers chose to show their opinion by strike.
