It has its pros and cons, but I must say if I were principal I would have teams in sixth and seventh grade but not eighth grade. Two years ago, I pushed to have a time where teams met to discuss student concerns. There was so much of a push for content PLC meetings that teachers that taught the same students never had time to discuss the student as a whole. There were times that a student was failing three of the core classes, but due to the fact that the teachers didn’t meet as a team no one would realize it until it was too late. Now the MTSS coach, counselor, grade level administrator and I meet with every team twice a month to focus on the students who are failing, having discipline issues or any problem at all. Standard
