The Alchemist Reflection Journal “He never realized that people are capable at any time in their lives, of doing what they dream of.”(p.22 &23) In my perspective this quote is very powerful and yet so simple. This especially captured my attention mainly because it can teach a reader that no matter where you are in life your dreams can always be accomplished, despite your age or any obstacle that comes in between your dream. I personally think the big picture in this quote would be that no matter how big an obstacle is, one can always overcome it. Also the quote reminded that I am capable of doing so much more than I ever imagined. Hence, this quote also is sending the message that age in nothing but number and now matter how small you are, you are capable of doing whatever you desire. …show more content…
Honestly this quote pretty much sums up the way I look at my life and I think that most of our society can relate to this quote. I often daydream about things that I know will simply not happen but I still prosper for my life to be like my fantasies. I think I’m so stuck on fantasizing things I will like to happen, I somewhat try to avoid reality. I think everyone can relate to this, because as human being you want things to happen your way and avoid what is sometimes right in front of your face because sometimes reality is not the

This quote inspires me to endure any hardships I experience for two reasons: it reminds me that there could be more difficult events I could face, and that my reward for enduring it will be a meaningful life experience. Because everyone experiences hardships in life, I can look at this quote and be reassured that I am not the only one with a certain problem, but I am also convinced that many people live through more severe events and therefore I can definitely withstand whatever life may give me. When I look at this quote, I recall all my past troubles and, more importantly, what I learned from those. The quote is similar in message to the “hang in there!”…

Chapter One: “... but people aren't meant to be overly bright in everything.” (15) I selected this quote because it states something I need to keep in mind sometimes. I get extremely frustrated if I do not pick up on something right away or not at all; like origami or some math concepts. At the end of the day, it does not matter if someone excels at everything they do; what matters is that someone tried their best at everything they did. Chapter Two: “There’s nothing like a song about lost love to remind you how everything precious can slip from the hinges where you've hung it so careful.”…

Some real-world connections to this quote are when a person has a fear of something imaginary such as a monster or a beastie from Lord Of The Flies. A fear of something that does not exist is inside you and depending on the fear we may limit ourselves from doing things associated with that fear. Another example is a fear of heights may stop a person going on a rollercoaster as it goes high. A fear like that can limit someone from having fun with their friends. In addition, crimes can also connect to this quote as sometimes good people make mistakes in life and as a result of those mistakes, they ruin their lives forever.…

In my opinion, I thought that this quote itself embodied what the author was trying to get the reader to understand through his book. My traditional, stable parents expected me to eventually graduate college and to become a successful, independent adult ever since I was born. Consequently, their influence to achieve at my highest potential has set me on the path to do so. Unlike the other Wes Moore, the author Wes Moore and myself included were set on the path to succeed because of the strong influence of our parents’ wishes for our futures.…

Gatsby’s Dream Versus Reality “Life is not a problem to be solved, but a reality to be experienced” (Soren Kiercaard) In the novel The Great Gatsby, F. Scott Fitzgerald hints that a dream too unfounded from reality will only blind a man, and has no possibility of be achieved. Gatsby was determined to reclaim the romance he and Daisy once had before he left for the war, and nothing could convince him that Daisy was forever gone from his reach. When Nick claims that the past cannot be repeated, Gatsby exclaims “‘Can't repeat the past?…

The above is a quote by Jean-Jacques Rousseau, an 18th century Francophone Genevan philosopher. This quote portrays a significant difference between the world of dreams and the world of realities. The world of imagination is boundless, meaning it has no limits and no rational ideas are suspended while in reality there are limits and rational ideas. We can see this viewpoint in many sources of entertainment today, but it just isn’t a conflict which has appeared recently, it has been challenging humanity since the beginning of time. An author, F. Scott Fitzgerald critiqued dreams and realities in his novel, “The Great Gatsby.”…

In this world, there are people do not have talents but have determination and face their obstacles to obtain their goals, while there are other who have talent, but do not have determination and hide them because they are not enough confident in themselves. Determination is important if someone wants to achieve a goal, a dream, or a personal legend because without determination nobody will achieve nothing. In the book, I admire the determination of Santiago’s character, because he has will in accomplish his goal, and despite all the difficult moments.…
