However, sceptics have questioned how the concept is sometimes interpreted, arguing that there is unclear logical and pragmatic examination of its value in professional development. Therefore, developing a reflective report is an undertaking that needs to be approached with caution, more so if individual reflection and critical thinking are to be rooted. The purpose of this reflective report is to reflect on the collaborative boat bus project performance and the experiences of working within a multidisciplinary group. The report will give consideration to the feedback we obtained from the client and from Adam Smith (tutor) and how we then applied this feedback to feed in the report writing. I have a similar view compare to yours, I firmly believe that nurses or advance practice nurses do apply theories, models and principle in daily nursing practice, however, the theories, models and principles are simply gone unnoticed. There is room for improvement to enhance the awareness of theories, models and principles that are being applied, however I believe that does not represent the theory-practice gap. When we develop healing relationships with clients, we often collaborate with their family in order to grasp an accurate understanding of their goals, meaning of illness, and their risks or vulnerabilities (Orchard, Sonibare, Morse, Collins & Al-Hamad, 2017). More times than not, family members are the ones who provide support and care for our clients when they return home, therefore we need to acknowledge their role in client care (Doane & Varcoe, 2015). Throughout my practice I have witnessed the gap between nurses and their clients family members. After completing this reflection, I reevaluated how I interact with patients and their families. Not only did this assignment change my perspective of the patient, but it changed how an illness impacts an entire family and alters daily routine activities that I take for granted. Acknowledging that a chronic illness is a lived experience and tailoring your patient and family education helps provide holistic care. There are many different approaches in developing a relationship with patients, one of which being holistic, patient-centered care. Holistic care is described as “all nursing practice that has healing the whole person as its goal” (American Holistic Nurses’ Association, 1998, Description of Holistic Nursing).
