Reflective Essay: Critical Thinking And Call Of Duty

When I first came into this class I thought that critical thinking was thinking beyond the current point or thinking ahead. But essentially it’s more to just thinking outside the box. I personally use critical thinking in my everyday life, I play video games a lot and a video game that I believe that involves a lot of critical thinking is Call of Duty. Call of duty is a first person shooter game type and it’s your job to move around the map in a critical way to get to your opponents. Basically when your running look for an enemy to shoot you have to think critical in order to defeat your opponent. A lot of critical thinking goes into place at this point because you don’t know what kind of move your enemy is going to do, when he sees you. One way it has changed me is I didn’t know that critical thinking had involved asking yourself question about a current situation, for example asking yourself “what is going on in this situation and am I deceiving myself?” There is a lot of things to understand about critical thinking, you just can’t ask yourself the obvious question or think of a simply answer that sums everything up. For you to be a good critical thinker you need to be able to gather and analyze information, next you need to come to a reasonable conclusion, then you must think with an open mind and last you need to communicate effectively. All these are abilities that I didn’t know existed in critical thinking, but now I’m aware of them. I had first started using critical thinking in my English, math, and science classes but most of the time they had evolved just by thinking a little bit beyond of the questions. I hope this class can help me get more out of critical thinking so it can help me in upcoming
