Growing up at Live Oak Elementary school, I remember that every year there was a school \ read-a-thon. The teachers created this read-a-thon to increase the amount of books that students read and to persuade students who were not reading books to read more. Once you read a certain amount of pages in a book, you would be allowed to attend this giant sleepover in the schools’ Multi-Purpose-Room (MPR). And every year I never went. I went down countless aisles searching for the right book, but every book that I encountered had the same cover. Two girls, one with blonde hair and brown hair, either leaning against each others backs or facing opposite directions. It seemed that most books had the same synopsis of two girls being best friends and liking the same guy or two enemies who are former best friends.
