From an Individual Learning Perspective, What were some of your Learning Outcomes? Throughout the course I have been introduce to ethical issues I have never considered and/ or thought of in the IT field. I think the first two weeks of the course were the most enlightening for me. Reading and trying to understand the many different philosophies for why humans are the way they are. I believe this is the area where I had the largest learning outcomes. I also, learned that all ethical issues have to be taken seriously no matter how minor they may seem. One overlooked ethical issue can become a nightmare for a business, and could lead that business to bankruptcy.

I definitely have a better understanding as to what an ethical issue is and how it may impact a business if the wrong ethical choice is made. This course has also made me realize that something you may not see as an ethical issue could very well be one, reasons being we were all raised differently and have different ways we see things. One person my not see a problem with a choice, while someone else will take offense to that same choice. When considering ethical issues in the IT field one must consider a multitude of views.
In what manner might your newly acquired understanding influence your subsequent response to situations in information technology that possess an ethical dimension? With the knowledge I have gained in this course the manner in which I approach an IT ethical issue will be with better understanding of how ethical issues can impact an IT company. With have a better understanding of what an ethical issue is and the problems they can present in the IT field I believe I will have more courage to stand up and speak out about and issues that I find that could be considered unethical. My newly acquired understanding will also help me not break my own ethical code or that of an IT professional.
How might what you have learned in this course influence your

Things in our world are becoming more and more autonomous, I believe this will raise many concerns about how much of our personally information and information about our habits are going to be put out there for companies to view with the idea that these companies need this data to make all the machines in our lives more personal. People will enjoy how these machines interact with them and make there daily lives easier, but I think the masses will fail to do there research and unknowingly open there personal lives to major companies without knowing. This will lead to the media doing it for them which we all know can lead to mass confusion and hysteria because the media will only put out the information that creates the best ratings for their station. The more we integrate technology into our lives the more ethical issues that arise, that is just a fact of life and will on continue has time goes on. People must realize we must educate ourselves and not let companies and the media do the educating for

I would have. The reason I would have let Paul go by his request is because no business needs an individual that treats their workers the way he does and because of his insubordination towards higher ups. His actions during the meeting should show you the way he carries himself at work. Ways businesses are dealing with these situations are by making sure to document all interactions with employees. Also companies are stepping up the way they recruit employees.…

This course was extremely intriguing and had me hooked from the first discussion forum. It required me to venture out of my comfort zone and ask questions that others viewed as odd, but I knew was going to assist me in my studies. I can recall one specific instance where I was on twenty-four-hour duty and I began asking a police officer doing his security checks questions. It had to be two in the morning and you can tell by the exhausted look on his face when he walked through the bitter cold into our dimly lit building entrance. He spoke with very little energy as he said good morning, but once I began asking him the list of questions that I just so happened to have typed on my laptop screen he immediately perked up and began to speak with life.…

One problem I learned from class, is that women are currently still face many issues that were once thought of as being resolved. Issues such as wage discrimination, job discrimination, sexualization, and violence are only a few of the many issues we are challenged with. Not only do women still deal with these issues but we also endure sexism on a day to day biases. These issues never came to my attention in my everyday life. However, through taking this class it made me socially aware of the issues that I was facing but was not conscious of.…

In the National Business Ethics Survey, it was found that companies who have successful ethics training programs in place have a rate of 20% of their employees that report witnessing unethical situations in the workplace vs. a rate of 88% of employees who work in companies without ethics training programs in place. Hence, having some type of ethical training program in place definitely affects employees in making correct and appropriate ethical business decisions within the corporate culture of a company. Ethical dilemmas and behavioral simulations help employees to make appropriate ethical decisions by reviewing and rehearsing what is considered ethical behavior for that particular reviewed or rehearsed dilemma. Once a company or organization…

I personally have noticed many changes throughout this course. I mostly noticed how now I analyze my jobs more with my coworkers, bosses and myself. I have one job that I absolutely love and another one that I do not care for very much, I did not really understand why because I get along well with my coworkers and higher ups. As our course went on and I started to understand business some more I then realized why there were certain things that were shaping my views about my jobs. I feel like I have learned a lot more than I do in some other classes. This course was not just a memorize the terms, regurgitate said terms on an exam and forget the material. There were many real examples that have sparked a lot of interest for me. Fair Trade items are now something that I am very familiar with and I attempt to find ways to purchase things I need that are fair traded. The climate change and global warming topic sparked my interest when I learned that all the glaciers will be gone by 2015.…

When looking back at this whole semester, I would say that there were a few things that I did learn. Some subjects from the book definitely stood out more than others. A few key things that I can take with myself and be easily remembered. I believe that I have learned quite a few things about myself but more on the subject itself and how to handle certain situations. Taking this class I feel helped me to get a better look on how to deal with other people, learning to react to certain situations, and not everything is in your control.…

The most important shifts in my thinking about ethical practice is knowing how to enhance the quality of developing the skills and knowing your worth. Ethical Practice refers to the standards of professional conduct that an industry professional is expected to uphold. I feel as though, the way I view things from others people is different. For example, I don 't find anything wrong with giving advice or suggestion in a counseling setting or therapy session. But I learned that it 's unprofessional or unethical to give advice to a client because in our profession our job is to help clients discover their issues or problem to be resolved.…

My organizations value and mission is to provide a collaborative, safe learning environment that nurtures scientific curiosity, encourages innovations, empowers critical thinkers and challenges students to explore the unknown. Through this mission there have been many programs for not only parents, student, and staff, but opportunities to create an ethical climate. As I sit back and think about the last few weeks in this course I can recall our first case study on Walmart. Every organization has situations they go through and seen in a positive or negative way. When I think about the organization that I work for I see the change in the last year-and-a-half that has brought it to a more positive atmosphere where individuals not only feel appreciated, but it is seen all the way around.…
