Leadership Reflection Report: What I Learn In College

Leadership Reflection Report As a rule when a student first begins their journey to increase their knowledge they are told “everything in you learn in college is vital to your future career.” Stated by many of my own high school advisors, college counselors, and even my own family; I kept that mentality when I walked into my first day of class. This vision that was built for me was instantly shattered when I decided to apply for a work study position in my field of study. I quickly found out that what I was learning in college was 100% not parallel to what I was learning in the position that I was looking towards; it was more like a guide to what to expect, but even then it didn’t compare to what I have learned while working for the UCF-CCC. …show more content…
To me I always thought it was about inspiring others to work towards a common goal while respecting each person role. I did not know that there was two different types of love; the first that Mr. Hunter gathers from Vince Lombardi is that “Lombardi clearly understood the distinction between the love of feeling (emotion) and the love of the will (volition). (Hunter, 2004, pp. 84-85) This was the first time that I had thought of love in this context, because I knew when I worked with my co-workers that I did not love them. Though there seemed to be a connection that even though I didn’t love them emotionally like my husband; I still genuinely cared for their best interest, and how we all performed the job together for the betterment of the patient. This was the very definition volitional love was the willingness to be attentive to others even when I am not having the best of days; the practice of leaving your outside business out of the work place. This helped me melt into the facility quite nicely; my interest in making sure that my employees are getting the best of their interest, and to know that they have a stable foundation to lean
