The Importance Of Autism In My Life

What is Autism? According to google, “a mental condition, present from early childhood, characterized by difficulty in communicating and forming relationships with other people and in using language and abstract concepts”. I believe that in the deeper meaning that is wrong, Autism is a unique ability to acquire and create new skills in life that no one else can, a superpower. Damian, my brother, goes through many obstacles in his life and I am there through each and every one of them, I love telling his story because it is one that me and my family are very proud to tell. Watching my brother grow up with autism has taught me the value in patience and problem solving, most of all that I can through anything in life. My brother, Damian was diagnosed with Autism at age four. I did not know or understand what Autism was, before then I never found myself researching or interested in this topic so much. This was the most significant change in my life, I knew that from then on my life would change in many ways but for the good. Damian is my happiness in life, he is what encourages me to succeed in everything because I want him to see that he can do whatever he wants in life too. There is a handful of people in this world that put down or look down to people with disabilities and think that they can’t do everything someone without disabilities can do. That is wrong, they are ten times more intelligent than us and show it in their own way. Damian has taught me to have patience in life and just place one piece at a time no matter how long it takes, I will figure it out. He has taught me that I can get through anything in life, he has been through some tough things at such a young age.
