The appreciation of Danceplus Spring
As the student of Dance appreciation, I am so luck to take this wonderful class this semester because that gives me a lot of opportunities to watch many amazing dance shows. I attended Danceplus Spring, the show was on 23th April 2016 at Mason Gross. It 's a great show, and it impressed me most. So I’d like to talk about this show today. I 'm willing to talk about it in details; the show is so great because it gives me a new feeling about dance. That means a lot for me.
I arrived Mason Gross at 7:00pm, before the show, every audiences are very excited, and we talk about how good this show is, and we are also talk about who is the best dancer of this show. The same expectation for the show makes us the

At the beginning of the show, all dancers stand in a row and some of them lift their foots successively. I think the choreographer wants us feel like in the rain forest, because the lights are green and they add some animal’s yawp. They want to make some interaction with audiences because during the show, many dancers come to forepart of the stage and make some interaction with audiences. They want the audiences move like them. That is very interesting, and also breaks the rules of traditional dance show. Even though they are free style, all dancers are very professional. Every one of them has their own styles, they have very different styles but they have good teamwork, all of their styles can work together make the show great. The music is the other part that make the show great, just like the dance, the music is also the free style it is change with the dance. they also ass many nature elements into the music, such as the rain, sound of wind, the sound of rain forest and so on. The choreographer try make more sense of hierarchy for the show for example, different dancers have different actions on the stage, if the dancers on the left dance, other dancers will run or stand on the right stage any way, choreographer will never make the stage boring. These different kinds of actions make the stage very interesting, and the most important point is that these different actions will not break …show more content…
However, for this part, I do remember every details the music, the light, the way they dance and their emotions. I can remember everything about this show. At that moment, I know I love this show, something actually make me feel that this is the show I love. I feel the power of the lives because dancers movements are powerful just like the beginning of lives; this power is so strong and pure. It is first time I feel this power on one show. People will get lots of problems, and some of these problems are too strong to knocked us over, some people give up but in this show, we can see the power to overcome the hard problems. It 's why I remember this part so clearly, because it let me know how to deal with these hard things in future. This is not only a dance show, but also a title, which makes me re-think about the relationship with others. In that show, ever dancers play a very important role of the show, some big some not, but everyone is indispensable, that make me think a lot. In the school, we can do things better with our partners and classmates; in the nature world the animals are also understand that, for instance, the hippo will never bite the “hippo bird” even though these little birds stand in their mouth. These little birds can help hippos clean their

In the beginning and at the end they played some old Italian type music as the dancers moved as one person and this gave the impression of a sort of warm family vibe throughout this section. There was also an instance of an extremely loud and almost uncomfortable sound during a portion in the middle which allowed the mood of the audience to switch to disturbed or uneasy, which was simultaneously reflected in their dancing and movements on and off the main “dancing portion” of the stage. A powerful instance which occurred a couple times was when the music shut off completely and there was only the audiences breathing, and the heavy panting of the dancers that could be heard throughout the theatre. This clearly intentional choice not only made the concept intriguing, but it allowed the audience to a feel a level of connect and grounding with the dancers as well. Much of the music reflected the different colour changes on screen as it was more serene during the cloud projection, but it was fast and very loud when the screen went to red.…

All of the performers would be considered amateurs in the dance discipline, most having only a year of dance experience from their public high school. This dance was a sassy, slower performance; using the dancers long lines to appear as a sexier routine. To make the dance more appealing numerous lifts were added and the technique of fall and recover was a common technique. The dance as a whole was a good attempt of having inexperienced dancers performing rather simple…

The dancers demonstrated some positions that are not normally seen at the gym and it truly creative. For example, they demonstrated running by stumbling their feet as fast as they could. I have chosen to review the Alberta Ballet’s performance of Love Lies Bleeding for my dance production critique. Preceding the show I had relatively low expectations since I am not an Elton John fan and the show was set to his music and was inspired by his journey. Fortunately, my expectations were surpassed considerably. Love Lies Bleeding was a zestful, dynamic, and alluring theatrical experience unlike no other.…

I determined this by the types of motions displayed by the dancers. While each of the dancers performed different movements, they seemed to be in unison. Also, the uniforms worn by all dancers created a visually homogeneous performance. The style of contemporary dance was used for the performance. The dancers displayed a combination of the strong and controlled legwork of ballet along with modern dance’s stress on the torso.…

Unlike many dances the Tango “does not follow fixed sequences of steps or figures and is only really choreographed for show or stage performances”(Littig). Stage Tango is danced with a loose embrace and utilizes flashy movements to entertain an audience. In contrast, social Tango “is an improvisational dance based on the four building blocks of walking, turning, stopping and embellishments”(Shrivastva). While dancing partners work off each other, with the male typically taking the lead, to create a unique dance that reflects the music. This collaborative technique is demonstrated in a dance scene from Tango Bar, in which the performers utilize repetitive slow and sustained movement, working off the others lead to add embellishment (Tango Bar).…

I have appreciated dance for so long. After my freshman year of dance, I learned that change can be a good thing. So as I sit here and wait, all I can think about is how much this one room has changed me more than I ever thought it would in passed years. I can’t believe how much I have changed since I started dance in fifth grade. I have improved in dancing as well as being able to express myself and my feeling through movement.…

I had so much to prove, to myself, to my peers, and those who came to watch the show. When the weekend of shows arrived, I had to dance both my ensemble part and my autumn solo. After my ensemble part, I had to sprint off stage, throw my hair into a bun, fastened my warm, rhinestoned crown atop of my head, and tightened my delicately embroidered tutu. Seconds before my solo, I would catch my breath, warm up my feet, stretch, and mentally prepare myself by going over the choreography in my head. The dance before mine soon came to an end, and before I knew it, I was entering the stage, proudly performing the memorized choreography.…

Fear and immaturity were once snags that prevented me from committing to a professional path in the allied health. It plagued and produced gaffes during my undergraduate studies at Stony Brook University which then led me to put the desire on hold. In hindsight, it was the best decision because discovering and developing myself as a person was necessary before achieving any kind of future success. After college, I entered a Master’s program in Statistics/Actuarial Science at Columbia University. It was there that I fortified my strengths in quantitative reasoning and where I credit my aptitude for problem solving.…

Growing up in an artistic household, there had never been a time that dance was not present in my life. At an early age, I was exposed to the arts and show business and nothing intrigued me more. I would spend countless hours backstage of my mother’s performances, frolicking in her makeup and playing make-believe. I fell in love with everything the theater had to offer and eventually it became my second home. As I grew older, and my motor skills emerged, nothing and no one could restrain me from dancing to the imaginary rhythms that flowed through my body.…

On December 2nd, 2016 at the Constance theatre the dance department presented a show called Agbedidi. The show, directed and choreographed by Mohamed DaCosta and Trent D. Williams, Jr., displayed a combination of Traditional African and Contemporary Dance. The house buzzed with excitement as the start of the show approached. It is quite encouraged to see such a large audience at an event, but this audience also brought a positive, vibrant atmosphere for the dancers to soak up. I was curious to see what this year’s performance would look like.…

My mood was jubilant that day because I was glad I came to that performance instead of staying home. I would have felt home sick with all that final review so it was pleasant and peaceful having entertainment for such a low cost but great performance. The movements I identified were a lot of the terms I went over in dance class from degage to grand battement, the list goes all over. The name of the performance should be called “The Art of Adventure” and it should be divided into subgenres which focuses on the main theme adventure. Adventure can be dim or bright but they always seem to have a long lasting well produced ending.…
