Reflective Essay The first semester of college has been a giant, emotional roller coaster. Roughly 15 weeks of constant work and a short break does not constitute a healthy student. English has especially been one of my most work-heavy classes. I would say that English 101 has been a very eye-opening academic experience. I have learned to formulate my writings to flow at a more advanced level than high school. I have developed strong opinions on the class, but I would say it has taught me much more than I expected. This is a reflection on the assignments in the class I made an accomplishment on. My final draft of project three was close nit to this section of the SLOs. This paper focuses on unified sports and how the community has a great influence on society and the people involved in it. I was able to use more than one source to back up my claims for this assignment. I used three credible sources to write my paper and added them into my essay for details on the power of the community. I received my best project grade for this assignment. The conventions of an essay basically outline the design and style of the paper. It includes things like grammar, punctuations, and structure. I chose my second journal to fulfill this goal. The journal was geared to summarize and compare each literacy narrative authored by Amy Tan and Chimamanda Adichie. I thought these pieces of literature helped guide me on understanding how to focus on my rhetorical situation and appeal to the specific audience I needed to. Analyzing these narratives showed me how to structure my writing better and use different conventions to elaborate on my claims. In my journal, I was able to specify examples they used and outline their research in a way it made sense for this assignment. This is the reason I chose this comparison journal, because the literature pieces took the genre they were talking about and broke it up for their audience to understand more
