Definition Essay On Diversity

Diversity is a verse mythology of separation to pat it up with a bit of makeup just to make it seem prettier. Diversity is like a label only that it is not real. It separates one from the rest of the world. Since, my arrival into Gallaudet, I have come to learn that deaf identity is one identity that is so superior here. It is one identity but within that identity it separates everyone into groups. There are the new signers, the ones who talk, the ones who wear implants. Diversity is not a real thing. This thing that we call diversity sets a tone in reality. That tone states one is only allowed to sit with one alike and not the other way around. You can separate yourself from others to be with people that have the same similarities. You can be part of the football team but don’t identity yourself as the football player. People tend to forget that an image a person puts on is not what defines them as a whole. Then we sometimes forget that diversity is not a high school cafeteria but what separates one from the rest of the world. Society wants the world to be equal but hide into groups where they feel most comfortable. And thats what we call diversity. Applying to colleges, admissions tends to say or have a flyer of how much diversity the university has, to make it seem fancy or to “show” that they accept all race.
