Reflection Essay: My Experience In My Life

Piece #1 - Reflection
June 3rd had been a horrible, miserable day. The humidity was thick and sweat slowly trickled down my legs in beads. I remember feeling anxious in the pit of my gut; a feeling that I was not accustomed to. I remember I was watching the pitter-patter of the rain dancing along the bus windows when I first saw her.
I had watched the gloomy atmosphere immediately change as she stepped onto the bus. Her smile had glowed and her presence had illuminated the bus. Her rosy cheeks held together a work of art, her face. Quiet as a mouse, she had walked along the bus full of people before noticing the only available seat was next to me. She asked, “Is this seat taken?” in her small, serene voice, “No,” I replied. Her voice was as soft as silk and flowed so beautifully.

She didn’t sit next to me. I remember the feeling of hurt swirl through my body as I watched her sit at the other end of the bus. I went out of my way to save a seat near me, so I could smell her sweet scent, yet she rejected that after all my efforts. My heart yearned for her.
June 10th had been the day it all changed. I had decided that I would get off with her at her stop. I had watched as she joyously walked into the small café, greeting all of her friends or colleagues; I hadn’t been sure which it was.

Piece #2 – Record of Conversation
LILIA: Good morning. Welcome to Temptation Lane, what can I get for you today?
GREG: Good morning to you too, Lilia. I’ll take a macchiato and a slice of brownie please.
LILIA: No problem sir. Wait! Do we know each other? How do you know my name?
GREG: I…I…I read it on the top of your apron.
LILIA: Oh! Ha! Silly me. You look awfully familiar though!
GREG: I recognise you too. We catch the bus together every day.
LILIA: Oh how foolish of me! Of course! Well here is your coffee and brownie. Have a wonderful day!
GREG: You too. Before I leave, I just wanted to know if maybe we could hang out together

We sat on the hot metal of the bleachers outside of the baseball field. The rainy days of Spring were replaced with the sweltering heat of the Summer, and hearing the clink of a baseball hit a bat in the Summer had become a tradition for almost five years. My older brother Dakota had spent those years being bombarded by sweat, mud, and the encouragement of his family, friends, and coaches when the team needed to hit a ball or when he wanted to show off how much better he had gotten since the last season. We were all ready for the season to be over so that we could plan our almost yearly trip to Virginia to visit our Aunt, Uncle, and our almost overwhelming blue-eyed cousins, Liam and Carlile. When the baseball season had come to a happy--or sad--ending, we would plan the trip and be piling into the car within the next week or two, to go on the getaway…

When people ask me to describe myself, I always draw a blank, I never know what to say, I’m caught off guard because I don’t really love talking about myself too often because I am someone who likes to listen rather than to talk. I always have to think about what I should say to make a good impression on whomever is asking me the question. There is a lot about me that you can see by just looking at me; I have short brunette hair, I’m short, hazel eyes, I’m quiet, and more. However, there are certain personality traits about me that every single person I know on a personal basis can tell you; I am candid, I am shy, and I am very loving. I am candid and by candid, I mean I am always very truthful and frank.…
