My Development

Development is essential to my life not only because of my drive for self-improvement, but also because I am called as a man of God to continually become more correlated with him. In college I have learned that development can be sort of a scary thing as it often results in many things changing around you as well as friends and personalities. An important item that I have been taught is that we are never alone. I’m not talking about our relationship with God, although he is always there, but rather the people around us in our lives often want to see us …show more content…
Over the past few years, I have had the opportunity to develop the awareness of those around me. Now I’m not talking about them being there physically, but rather their personalities of what draws me in or makes me avoid them. This is why two of my areas of weakness are “motivating others” and “coaching/developing others,” which are two things that in my future are likely to be highly critical. On the other end, my family has always told me that I have been gifted with effective speaking, which has allowed me to influence and make others understand my perspective. “As the Bible states iron sharpens iron and so may two become one,” I think it is my duty and responsibility to use my influences on motivating others around me to succeeded and preform to the best of their …show more content…
It is the importance of structure and self-reflection that needs to be in place in order for change and awareness to happen. Also being put in leadership positions almost every semester at Calvin has reinforced my drive to not only become an entrepreneur but a leader in the business world. Calvin’s business program specifically seems to cultivate workers not leaders of companies, which makes it hard to think differently than those around you, who are focused on the next job rather than the next idea. I still have yet to learn an effective way to help motivate others into seeing the possibilities that are possible with owning their own

The worldview philosophy I most closely identify with is cathartic (psychological) transformation and empowerment. I believe the influencers that have caused me to seek authoritative careers and embark on achievements beyond limitations to validate my worth were my absent parents. I’ve experienced a lot of personal distress as a child growing up with the feeling of abandonment, insecurity and neglect. I felt my love ones had no logical reasoning for allowing me to grow into an adult feeling these type damaging emotions and cognitive illusions. According to Psalm 51:10 “Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me.”…

Theory of Change Management Peter Senge promotes the idea of a Learning Organization as a theory of change management in his book ‘The Fifth Discipline’. Senge (2006) encourages the “rethinking of corporate philosophy” and a commitment to individual learning to establish a learning organization. Individual learning, according to Senge (2006), does not guarantee a learning organization, but without it, learning organization is impossible. Individual learning, therefore, is key to the establishment of a learning organization. Encouragement for individual learning requires “tapping the potential of people” according to Senge (2006).…
