According to the Routine Activity Theory, three elements are needed in order for a crime to take place: a target, a potential offender and the absence of guardians. Another way of understanding and explain marijuana use within skateboarding culture, would be through the routine activity theory that Johns used in her dissertation. Despite her not finding a higher amount of substance use among skateboarders than other subcultures, she did find an increased amount of substance use among the older informants in the 12th grade. This is a reflective discussion of the Psychology study as part of the Research in Psychology module whilst studying for a B.Sc. Psychology. I intend to use the Gibbs’ Reflective Cycle Model of reflection as it has six clear parts, starting with a portrayal of the event, understanding of what was learned through to conclusions and thought for future research. My previous experiences with peer response have not been as beneficial to me as teachers and myself would hope. In my English 111 class, my professor required the class to do peer responses in class where we had to read your partners paper aloud to him or her and then discuss what you liked/did not like about their paper. This made me very uncomfortable and gave me very little time to give a justified response to someone else's paper, so most of the time I just told my partner that their paper was well written. For the peer responses we did last week in class I found them to be much more beneficial in the sense that we were able to read another students draft "alone" and actually form an opinion and then fill out the peer response form alone.…
