Reflection On The Writing Process

When I look back at my elementary years, I remember being irritated for having to go through the long writing process. I laugh to myself now because I chose this as my research topic. I chose this topic because I think writing is such a crucial curriculum standard for all students to feel comfortable with. I remember in middle school working on the writing process all the way up to even high school. Now I am happy that I had teachers who believed in using the writing process. I feel the writing process has made an impact on my writing as well. This is another reason why I chose this topic. Writing has not always been my strongest asset in school and I always sense anxiety creeping in knowing I have to write a paper. However, the writing process has really helped me feel comfortable with my writing. This process has been around for quite a while, and this technique is so essential that young students are still using this process in schools today. The process has been improved and developed throughout the years; however, the five stages remain the same. The famous five stages are prewriting, drafting, revising, editing, and publishing. With these five stages, children have been able to develop their writing from a simple word to a finished …show more content…
There are many approaches to go about accomplishing this stage, which consist of students looking over certain sections in their writing for any mistakes. Normally, teachers have students work in groups during this stages or even set up workshops to help students with revising their writing. I think this stage really allows for students to develop into a great writer because they are reflecting on what makes sense and what needs improvement. “Students may want to make additions and changes while revising their writings, a desire which keeps them engaged in the process of writing” (Akkaya, 2014).
