Reflection About The Holocaust

The holocaust was one of the worst times in history. Jewish families lost everything, they were taken from their house and put into camps where they would be seperated from there familys and moved to camps or killed. I don't know why the nazi did this but from reading this book shows how cruel they really were. Before reading the book, I really didn’t know much about the the Holocaust. I knew that the Holocaust was a time were Jewish, and other innocent people, were put to work and were killed by the Nazi. What I learned in school is that we didn't want to get involved, but we joined forces with the other countries that were already battling the germans and their Allies. They really never went into detail about the Jewish but more about the …show more content…
I have never seen this perspective of the war before and it really changed the way I think about the war. Seeing what Elie went through in the Holocaust was a very sad thing but was a good way to see what happens in the war. I never knew that they would separate people by gender and work ability. I never knew that they had to be certain age to work, and that age was pretty old, and that's why he changed his age to be with his dad and not be killed. It was crazy learning how they treated the them, they just shoved them into cattle cars and transported them to camps with no food or water. In the book Elie was moved to many camps and got all of his stuff taken by the nazies if it was vauble like his gold teeth. I thought that they just worked at one place just moving stuff but they were split up into groups and did different things for work. I thought that they didn't feed the people in the camp, but they did and it wasn't a lot. People were put in small houses and were put on wooden beds with nothing else. Elie stand strong threw the whole thing even losing his whole family with his dad at the end. Elie never gave up and worked hard threw the whole thing and did what he was supposed to and somehow he survived all of the stuff the nazies …show more content…
I wish I would have read this along time ago because it was really good information told by someone that went threw the holocaust. In the beginning of the book, Elie was talking about how they thought that nazis were helping them at the beginning but when they started to get put on cargo cars, they new that something wasn't right . I dont get why they tricked them and kept putting them into small areas to keep them from leaving. Why did the nazis give them an option to leave the country, the nazi didn't want them there. When i think back on the war, ijust wonder why did they do this, what was going threw their minds to make the do this. What were the nazis going to accomplish by killing people and taken land from other countries? IF everyone would read this then people would be more informed on what they did to the jewish and how afule they were. When people read this book they will know what happened and they will remember how bad it was and help prevent this from happening in the future. Before reading the book i was happy about the war that we went in and stopped the nazis, But after hearing what they did, it made me sad and angry that so many people were killed. Throughout the book I felt like i was there and i could see what he was talking about how bad his time was there. This book makes me want to go back and do the same thing that they were doing to the Jews. This book really

However, they were lied to and betrayed by the one leader they counted on for protection. Hitler was playing them the entire time because the Jews were oblivious to the fact that Hitler was trying to obliterate this social class. It took Elie many years to move past what had happened to him in the concentration camps, but once he did, he was able to stop concerning himself with the pain and suffering that he had to experience within the concentration camps and continue on with his life in a happier mindset. For instance, Elie says, “That I survived the Holocaust and went on to love beautiful girls, to talk, to write, to have toast and tea and live my life - that is what is abnormal (Wiesel, Life). This special quote shines light on the fact that with time even through the worst conditions and situations, Elie had the capabilities to push…

Night There are many significant events that took place during the Holocaust in the novel Night, written by Elie Wiesel. This book was based on the memories from the author which shares unforgetting time frames he, his family, and other Jewish people had to experience. Dehumanization and losing faith in God were two of the main factors that occurred during these times because of the sufferings which Jews endured. Due to the conditions and surroundings Jews lived in, their faith in God was repeatedly being questioned. They did not understand how they lived in a world that was filled with so much hate and evil when they believed in a world that contains love and happiness.…

Imagine being abused profoundly just because of what you believe in. The story I Have Lived for A Thousand Years takes place in 1943.Young girl by the age of 13 named Ellike Friedmann grows up during the holocaust and tells us all about it. Livia Bitton also known as Ellike Friedman is an author and a holocaust survivor who wrote about her experience of the holocaust. I personally would recommend this novel. It gave me a better understanding of the holocaust especially because she was about the same age as me, I could relate to almost all of it.…

First off this book is a very well written book explained in detail and I admire how Elie wrote this book and how he shared it with the world. I give this book 4.5 stars out of 5, just because it was a phenomenal book and very well written but, the book is for a little more higher level reader and just all around the book was great but wasn't perfect. Throughout this book you experience a lot of emotions and there not all sad. Which I think is a good thing for a sad horrific story like this. But, it also shows his own feelings which is a good visual to the audience reading what he was feeling.…

This book really captured my attention and there wasn’t a time when I got bored from reading it. This book was easy to read and easy to understand. I think it might be a bit hard to understand if people don't know the basics about what happened in the Holocaust. I think I wouldn’t clearly understand what they were talking about. But since this book was so inspiring I would have researched about the Holocaust and want to learn about what happened and why people were treated so differently from one another.…

Elie’s story is unique in the sense that despite knowing of the anti-semitic events that were occurring, the people of Sighet worried little. His story provides more depth to the common knowledge of the Holocaust. Without his recorded memories of what happened, the world may never of known about these people that were taken so late into the war, and their perspective. His desire to spread his memories and inform others helps to ensure that great tragedies, such as genocide, will be prevented. Elie’s memory, coupled with his motivational drive to educate the world of the genocide, has led to a more accurate understanding of the Holocaust that will not be forgotten.…

The Holocaust was a very rough time for not only Jews, but everyone who was part of the Germans. During this time the Jews abandon their religion and values. This book was so informative and filled with o many descriptive words that I feel everyone could understand. Although the real thing was so painful no one there could ever describe it, I understand as much as could be told, and I feel that the author did a great job of describing his pain and other people's pain that were present in the book. And speech was very good also, it was descriptive and it made everyone listen and it made everyone sad and have a picture in their head, but I feel that the book was definitely more informative and way more captivating. This book had so much detail on what the Holocaust was like and how it felt like, and some parts didn't make sense , because when the SS man would torture the Jews in the book, I feel they do it for no reason, you could like feel their anger as Idek was whipping Elizer in the back 25 times, you could hear the shots as the SS man would shoot the Jews if they stopped running or even slowed just a little bit. All these things you could see and feel and hear as you were reading.…
