I was into books like Among the Hidden, The Maze Runner. Thoese books where really good I like action book that also have mystorys in it. Books that about old things i'm not interested in because if the first three pages don't catch my eye usally I wont read or finish the book. A good book in my opinion is a book that has a purupose and that is understandable and its not so confusing. The role of literacy has played a big part in my life because you have to use it a lot. How can you go anywhere or do anything if you don't know how to communicate. You have to get a job which causes you to communicate. After highschool and your carrer you have to teach someone the job you have to communicate. Communication is a big part of life because nothing will be done with out communication. When my parents where my age they didnt read either after highschool my dad started reaing but my mom didnt. My sister was a big reader she really liked it because she said it gave her something to do. I don't think their is nothing bad with not reading because it really just depends on the person some people never read book some people can’t stop reading

I became literate at a very young age around one or two years old and people could understand what I wanted. For example, bolitas (meant balls in Spanish) cooked beans and no bolitas was refried beans. I had a way of commutating with my family but sometimes I would forget what the word was and I used to describe the item itself. They would eventually understand what I mean. Unlike one of the cases in Deborah Brandt’s Sponsors of Literacy, I did not have a tutor or anything like that.…

Throughout my elementary and middle school career, I hated reading and writing. I found writing to be a chore and reading to be overall boring, especially when I had to read an assigned piece of literature. I went to a private catholic school from kindergarten to eighth grade and received a very mediocre education especially when it comes to literature. I think my hate for reading and writing stemmed from my lack of literary sponsors in my early years of development. My views on literacy drastically changed during my early years of highschool due to the few literary sponsors I gained.…

Going forward, In middle school I found my only books I liked to read as a kid “Diary of a wimpy kid series”. The main reason I liked it so much was because I could finish the book in a day and not have to dedicate myself to a book for two weeks. Also it was a very childish book so it interested me in 6th grade. The book had a lot of pictures in it to keep me interested in the book. This is the only book I would willingly read in my free time because I liked it so much.…

Reading to me has always been an escape from reality, I can go into a book and lose myself for hours.
