I can honestly say I have learned so much from Creekview Intermediate and continue to do so. I have learned many things about how a school system works. They use 504’s and Response to Interventions (RTI’s). 504’s ensures that any child who has a disability recognized under the law and is attending an elementary or secondary educational school receives certain accommodations that will ensure their academic achievement. After doing it week after week I improved and started to understand how to better help those kids. I learned that this class worked best when I would let them share something enjoyable about themselves for every class. One week I was not able to go the guidance class and the teacher came up to me and said the students were devastated and missed me. Knowing this also helped me in this classroom it helped me know they enjoy my company and are benefiting from my lessons. I also got to spend one on one time with …show more content…
Everyone is very welcoming and always willing to help. Molly my field instructor was very informative when it comes to working with students. She let me watch her interact with students a few times, then next thing I knew I was on my own. I felt that her authorizing me be on my own was a great way for me to really learn. I’m very hands on when it comes to learning and I told her that in my interview. Her letting me go on my own, so fast helped me to know that she was listening to me and wants me to do great at Creekview. If I ever have a question she would be there for me in a second. She has been a great field instructor and I can’t wait to acquire more from

So, I am focusing mostly on the program’s newly expanding private school named Legacy Christian Academy which the kindergarten class I was with falls under because that’s where I was able to get most of my information.)…

Should I go back to my ruined city, and help to rebuild it, or should I stay somewhere safe and try to move on? This painful dilemma was the question I faced in December 2005, when schools began to reopen after Hurricane Katrina. I made the choice to go back, and to teach some of the first high school students making their difficult way back to the city from wherever they had fled. It was an exhausting and stressful experience, but one that taught me so much—about resilience, innovation, and what even teenagers will put up with for the love of their home city. I arrived at O. Perry Walker High School on January 6, 2006—a Friday.…
