Refacing your kitchen cabinet doors can be a lot of fun as well as money saving opportunity. If you have old, worn out cabinets that are still sturdy, then it is best to reface than replacing the entire cabinet doors. More especially, if you are living on a budget, you don't have to neglect your kitchen cabinets because money is tight. There are ways to add fresh new look to your kitchen with simply refacing the cabinet doors. You will be so glad you did. First of all, decide what type of cabinet doors you want. Consider these ideas if you are stumped on what to do with your kitchen. Instead of putting in more cabinets, consider portable stacking shelves. They look great, you can get them in all different colors and they are inexpensive. Try a department store in your area for several different styles to choose from. Do not limit yourself to ceiling to counter cabinets. Consider this, when you use stackable ones you can also remove them from the kitchen easily when you are having company and put them in another room. These make sense. Fancy, expensive cabinets are not necessary, but it is helpful to have enough cabinets and drawers, and a sufficient counter top to use as a work surface. This can be done on a budget. I know because it was pretty cheap to replace my kitchen cabinets. Without including the cost of the contractors, that is. My old kitchen cabinets were plain metal ones that had a sticker on the inside of one of the cabinets that said they were purchased from Sears and were manufactured in the early 1920's. I had a total of two drawers and four cabinets. The counter top was only big enough to hold the crock pot and the toaster at the same time. The sink was a shallow porcelain thing that was badly stained. The people who lived in this house before me were evidently too cheap to try to improve anything here. The old kitchen gave me nightmares. I immediately decided I needed new kitchen cabinets. The only problem was the budget. I could not afford to purchase brand new kitchen cabinets, but I could not stand to live with what I had for very long, either. It was quite a predicament. I was having to store most of my dishes, and pots and pans in other rooms of my house. It felt like a transient lifestyle. A kitchen needs proper storage. I was fortunate enough to discover that a friend of mine who lives fairly close to me was also in the market to get new kitchen cabinets.
