The Hollywood movie industry is riddled with signs that particular cultures are more evil than others. If you look at most terrorist or patriotic war movies then you will usually see that the Arabic community are being portrayed as evil. Even innocent seeming movies such as Aladdin have underlining themes of Arabs being evil. True Lies, one of the most expensive and successful films ever made is based around a terrorist threat from an Arabian man and throughout the entire movie Arabian people are seen as brutal murderers and terrorists. The film True Lies (1994) is one of the most famous and highest grossing movies, but the underlying tone of the movie shows Arabs as being violent terrorists. This portrayal of Arabs is used to unknowingly rubbish our minds with the stereotype of Arab men and women being evil people. Unwittingly the media is leading us to these conclusions by creating scenarios like this without a second thought.
Back to the Future (1985) shows how a comedy film can use stereotypes such as that Arabs are terrorists and make it seem common through comedy. In the film the Arabian terrorists are seen as murdering one of the main, innocent, characters.
The film Father of the Bride II (1995) is another comedy which perpetuates these stereotypes by showing Arabian people as dehumanised by showing the main character as being conned by an Arabian man who is stealing his land.
The movie industry pollutes our minds by showing Arabian people as terrorists. Movies such as True Lies, Father of the Bride II and Back to the future perpetuates this stereotype as well as soundtracks for movies such as Aladdin. The overriding themes over these movies unwittingly tricks the viewer into believing that this is normal with people from these cultures and that it is ok to be drawn into these
