Decreasing Cell Phone Usage by Using Prompting during Certain Durations of Time

Abstract A self-management study was conducted to examine the success and effects of prompting on decreasing the time spent using a cell phone. In this self-management study, the participant was studied throughout the day at specific time ranges in the environment of only a household. Reducing cell phone usage was solicited as a means to reduce the risk of negative health problems and negative social problems that may affect the completion of everyday life tasks and the ability to live a preferred quality of life. An ABA design was used to evaluate the subjects? behavior when a piece of paper is presented in front of the individual as a method for prompting to decrease cell phone usage. Results showed that this method had positive results that give value to the idea that prompting an individual has the potential to reduce cell phone usage.
