It does not matter if someone gets their carbohydrates and fats from a donut or an apple and peanut butter; if it has the same macronutrients, then their body cannot tell the difference. Educating the community members about this will help them achieve a healthy lifestyle by tracking their macros. If they know how many calories they need to sustain or lose weight then a manipulation of their calories, more specifically their macronutrients, can allow for healthy weight loss.
I want Darlington County to take action, by starting at home and creating a community willing to learn and live a healthy lifestyle. It is called Student2Student Strong. We recruit children in grades three to five from the local Boys and Girls Club of America. Each child is assigned a “wellness coach” (a healthy, well-rounded, child-oriented mentor) that will promote a healthy lifestyle to each one of their mentees (their child from the boys and girls club). These “wellness coaches” are high school volunteers that act as a role model to these underprivileged children who have not been taught to be genuinely healthy.
