The worth of a person is determined by his or her faults and achievements. When one fails, they are motivated to try harder and learn from the mistakes that they have made. They need go through this process to reach the success that they seek. It is true that in order for a person to reach redemption, there must be fault along the way. Sir Gawain and the Green Knight shows a great example of fault and redemption as Sir Gawain goes on his quest throughout the story. In his sophomore year of highschool, Jordan tried out for the varsity basketball team and didn’t make it. This fault shocked him and he was embarrassed because of it. Sir Gawain was also embarrassed of his fault and even he had a scar to remind him of it. “And he showed them the scar at the side of his neck confirming his breach of faith, like a badge of blame.” (Armitage.2498) Michael Jordan will also always be reminded of his fault in his career. However, Jordan got past his fault and continued to work toward his goal of making the varsity team. After a year of practicing, he made the team and became one of the best players on it. Jordan continued on with his basketball career and made it to the NBA.
