Redbox was very desperately in need of funding, Redbox was spending more money then what was being generated. I feel that Redbox made the right decision to partner with Coinstar. Since Coinstar already had partnerships with a considerable number of different retailers, this was the smart thing to do. Coinstar could get Redbox in many of its partner’s locations. Redbox would not have been able to expand to so many locations without the help of Coinstar. Redbox was able to identify the needs of its customers by putting kiosks at every gas station or convenient store to ensure customers were able to rent movies with convenience which brought in more revenue.
