At first glance, “You Throw a Stone,” by Juan Felipe Herrera, looks like a piece of found poetry written using the erasure method (a method of found poetry where poets take a piece of literature, usually a poem, and erase most of the words, leaving behind words that form a poem when read in order), but that is not so, Felipe’s words are all his own, albeit written in a creative and unique way. “You Throw a Stone,” is written in free verse, an open form of poetry that allows a poet to write to his heart’s content without restrictions on rhyme, meter, or rhythm. The most compelling and funky part of this poem is the structure, Felipe did not write “You Throw a Stone” like a typical poem: line after line, with correct punctuation and one space…

The controversial topic of nurture versus nature is evidently displayed in the novel “The First Stone” by Don Aker. Many may say it is the environment that one is raised in that shapes who one grows up to be. Although, others can argue that it is one’s character traits that are inherited from your ancestors. However, in the book “The First Stone”, nature has a major impact on Reef Kennedy’s future, Additionally, Reef had a very rough past, constantly being cursed at by his drunk grandfather and witnessing his grandmother get burned by a monstrous disease. Ray Miller stood in front of the Pearly Gates, sighing with relief. He had finally made it to the top of the endless, winding marble stairs, taking in the soaring view while trying to catch his breath. The pastor pulled out an old piece of cloth from his pocket to meticulously rub his glasses and squinted at the imposing structure in front of him. His gaze followed the intricate etchings depicting the history of humanity, from the creation of Adam and Eve to the birth and death of Jesus and everything in-between, astounded by the sheer immensity of the gates. Patiently, the so-called shepherd waited behind the boisterous pilot and listened in on the conversation being held between him and Saint Peter.…

The physical evidence proves it to not be suicide. How can a person live through a shot to the chest with a pistol, reload the pistol while still trying to breath, twist his arm in such a manner, and shoot himself again in the back of the head and live through that as well as afterwards, ask for a drink and crawl into his bed to die. It doesn’t make sense for him to do that. The evidence isn’t there to support a suicide and the first witness has changed her story three times and can now not be trusted as a source. This was a…
