One those four names, he saw a green stamp with a check mark. There was a list of other people with a red stamp saying deceased. Scrolling through the files with red stamps, he sighed deeply. Many of the experimentees had died trying to achieve their own Manifestation without any luck. Putting the folder down for a minute, he took a break from the pictures. Seeing the top members of the Sangrine Syndicate alive. He didn’t feel like looking through the rest of the files, but his curiosity got the better of him. Picking up the last few files, he scrolled through the names until witnessing a familiar one.

“Juniper Durrance.” Isaac read. “This can’t be the same Juniper, it can’t be.’”

Isaac tried his hardest to believe it wasn’t Malessica’s best friend. Not wanting Malessica to see it, he folded the file, placing it in his pocket. Remaining quiet, Isaac placed the folder on the bed. He wasn’t sure whether to tell Malessica about the file or not. Telling her about Juniper would break her down, but if he said nothing, he’d feel like a terrible friend for hiding the truth. The internal conflict of telling her or not saying a word, started to eat at him.

“Did you find anything?” she asked. “I can’t find anything good out here.”

“I found some files.” he replied. “With some information on some of the Sangrine Syndicate.”

Trying to speak, they’d hear the front door unlocking. Standing there in fear, Isaac turned his attention to the closet, grabbing Malessica by the arm. Hiding inside the closet, Isaac kept the door cracked open, allowing himself to view the room. A man walked into the room with a bottle of whiskey in his hand, sporting a pair of round glasses. He swayed back and forth towards his bed. Malessica took a peek from the cracked open door, seeing

I went to the school store, to avoid sitting at an empty table during lunch, and with my small amount of money I buy two things, pringles and a small packet of cheez-its. Nevertheless, I ripped open the package and noticed a sound that is highly quiet but like a faint zipper as if I unzipped a jacket. The wrapping was smooth but had slightly-sharp edges on either side of the packaging.…

Victor, not a child anymore, did not care for yet another stranger in his life; he did not listen to Ghenya, argued with her, and when something was not to his liking, he ran away from home for hours, leaving poor women in tears. Ghenya, who never had any children, did not know how to approach Victor, her disciplinarian methods were yelling and spanking. She was a hard worker with minimum education and a very harsh life; life where each ruble was counted and re-counted before it was spent.
