The red river flood that began in grand forks north Dakota occurred in April of 1997, it was one of the worst floods in American history it drove family’s apart wile it messed up everything they owned like there homes and a lot more. Before the flood everything was normal all of the families where normal and doing everything as you everyday family does in everyday life like go to work both parents worked wile some parents just one of them went to work, Kids did things that normal kids do like go to school or go outside to play. When they heard that the flood would or may happen they tried there best to prepare for it but it wasn’t enough

In April of 1997 there was a damn that fell and flooded the hole town of grand forks destroying everything in its path. It was only eight degrees when the flood accrued. It devastated everyone in the town one of the worlds worst disasters of all time. The disaster happened at Grand Folks a town on the red river that flows along the north Dakota Minnesota border into Canada. The absorptive capacity is a yes or no question asking if the town or area that was effected has reached a point of being able to recover or not. If the absorptive capacity was exceeded the was the town able to improve or to learn to increase the probability of building and recovering . in the red river flood case the ability to recover in most areas was not exceeded and they had a high rate of recovering from the disaster, there where some areas that had to high of a risk and that did not recover forcing the area to had a permanent
