The higher elevations also bring a more rough terrain, which then causes the panda to spend far more energy searching for food. Considering bamboo has almost no nutritional value the panda needs to spend most of its energy simply eating, not traveling over rough terrain searching. That's just one animal whose habitat loss also affects their food source.…

The sesamoid bone of this species resembles that of a red panda which supports taxonomic relationship placing it in the Ailuridae family, the same as the red panda. The Simocyon batelleri fossils suggest that traits such as tree living environments and hyper carnivore diets were present (Glatston, 2010). This trait which is also included in giant pandas, noting they are a different species than that of the red panda, challenge the hypothesis whether the red panda and giant panda are actually related. This is because the presence of the pseudo-thumb found in the Simocyon, is not the only indicator of common ancestry between the two species, but structure of the teeth come into play as well. Fossil evidence shows that the diet of a Simocyon would have a more general carnivorous diet instead of an herbivorous diet that both red and giant pandas have.…

While pandas live in the zoo the pandas are facing many threats in their sustained survival. The situation is really dangerous and there is a risk that giant pandas could become extinct. There is a danger of them becoming extinct because of road construction, mining, natural disasters, climate change and there is more production of waste. I think panda’s environment should be changed because they are becoming threatened because of the climate and construction changes. Bamboo is also becoming restricted to the distribution; bamboo will disappear by end of the 21st century because it wouldn’t be able to grow under the high temperature.…

This year, an estimated 273 people will die from drowning. That’s about the same as the current giant panda population. And each year, we will continue to lose anywhere from 250 to 350 people; as the graph on my right indicates. There is a weak association between this data, meaning that each year, deaths aren’t decreasing, like in an ideal world; despite the variety of campaigns each summer, urging us to ‘be safe around water’. Obviously, this issue isn’t just going to go away and we can't continue to do anything to address it if we want to decrease the death toll.…
