5:30 a.m. read my clock.
“Matthew, we should probably get up now.” I said, while stretching my arms.
“Yeah, OK,” Matthew said groggily.
I quickly got dressed and headed downstairs. When I reached the bottom step, I saw my mom packing food for the ride. I started peering into the early morning, waiting for a black car to pull into our driveway, because we were going there with our friend Casey and his mom.
Then, after what felt like waiting forever, a black car pulled up into our driveway.
“Mom, they’re here,” I said quietly.
“Okay, head out to the van, I’ll be out there once I’m finished packing,” replied mom.
I hurried out to the van where Casey and his mom (Mrs. VanVuuren) were waiting. I opened the door let Casey in and then hopped

I thought, this should be pretty fun.
And although it was a wooden ride it was still really fun! I got on the red one, because if you really knew me, you would know that I like red better than blue. It first started going up and down at a pretty reasonable speed as it turned different directions in burst up a hill and sped down even faster than it did before. Soon the blue coaster was a little bit behind the red coaster as it sped down the track and turned the final turn and ended with the red coaster winning!
Mrs. VanVuuren didn’t want to go on it a again so, Casey and I got in line to ride a second time. This time, Casey and I split up and we each got on a different coaster. I was alone until this guy got in with me. He was hyped from the beginning and (I mean this in the most positive way possible, but) he just wouldn’t SHUT UP! The red coaster (which was the coaster that I was on) was the first one to stop, but barely, this time. The guy was celebrating our “victory” and whereas I’m just sitting there shaking my head. A pair that was across from me looked at me and the lady mouthed “I feel sorry for you.” I just laughed and looked away. I eagerly got out of my seat and met Casey at the bottom of the stairs. Then, we met everyone else by the benches that were across from us. I told everyone about the guy I sat next to and we then decided on our next ride, The Sky

The first time the class met, we were in the smallest dance room. A long wooden bar ran across the back wall, parallel to a mirror covered wall. On the shelves around the room were what seemed like hundreds of trophies that the local high school dance team had won over the years. The first thing I remembered thinking was “Wow, I’m going to have trophies just like this one day!” and little did I know that my reward from baton twirling would be much greater than any trophy or medal.…

Cedar Point, the Roller Coaster Capital of the world, certainly lives up to its title. Scattered throughout the park are some of the most intense roller coasters you’ll ever hear of. I was fortunate enough to have experienced the phenomenon of riding atop the Top Thrill Dragster over summer vacation, which lasted only 20 seconds of real time, but will forever be embedded within my long-lasting memory. The fiery orange sun began to submerge below the line of the horizon, far out across the calm, murky waters of Lake Erie.…

Year Round Around Christmas everything was usually all rowdy in the airport. You saw a big bright tree, you’d hear bells ringing, kids singing, jolly music playing, and you’d even smell sweets. However, this year was different, you heard lockers slamming, footsteps of anxious businessmen, elevator doors closing, and no music. The tree in the lobby was dull with one single gold star, and yellow flickered lights that indicated they weren’t going to last.…

Small Moment Narrative By: Simona McDonald It had been a grey, gloomy September day from the moment the sun chose to rise. A faint wind flowed through our hair while a slight drizzle sprinkled down upon us. The lake’s chilly, dark green water came crashing down onto the beige concrete in heavy waves as we strolled along beside the water, taking in the breath-taking scenery. There had been a faint mist acting as a blanket covering the city of Chicago.…

What if one day nobody hid anything from anybody? What if one day I took my mask off and showed you this hideousness behind my fake smile? We all have things to hide, a pimple to conceal, a bra to pad, and a tear to wipe away when nobody’s looking. Some just have a little more to hide. “Who do you think’s doing it?”…
