Is getting to your destination on time worth the carelessness of driving fast and running red lights and taking lives? Each year many die from careless commuters rushing to get to a destination on time and decide to run a red light. However, this number can be reduced drastically, which could be done if the red light violators were enforced. Unfortunately, there are not enough police to enforce this. Red light cameras should be used to ticket American drivers. The number of wrecks each year from red light runners is astonishing. There were 762 deaths from red light runners in 2008. Also, 2.3 million reported intersection-related crashes. This resulted in approximately 733,000 injuries from crashes. These stats are crazy and are very unneeded.
