Red Kayak Brady Character Analysis

In William Golding’s Lord of the Flies a group of boys are stranded on an island after a plane crash killing all the adults, forcing the boys to start their own government. Two children will be killed and the rest will be rescued. In Priscilla Cummings Red Kayak Brady and his two friends, J.T and Digger, are in deep trouble when a little boy and his mother go out one day on their kayak, and the little boy dies. Brady has found the reason why the boy has died; his friends have drilled holes in the kayak causing the kayak to sink. Brady is force to tell the truth which lands his friends in a juvenile outdoor camp. Tilly, Brady’s dog, is a lot of times shown with Brady. Tilly has similar loyalties to Brady as piggy does to Ralph. Tilly in Red Kayak is very close to Brady. She wants to do everything with Brady and follow him …show more content…
The comparison is that they both want to go with their leaders but their leaders won’t let them. Piggy has to rely on the other boys because of his asthma. He is always asking the other boys for food or the boys are going him food. As seen here, “Simon sitting between the twins and Piggy, wiped his mouth and shoved his piece of meat over the rocks to Piggy who grabbed it”(74).In Red Kayak Tilly sits by the table until Brady gives her food. Found here” A grilled cheese and some soup, but it sat there growing cold until I gave the sandwich to Tilly”(54). Piggy and Tilly both rely on the other people in their life for food because they both are not able to get food for themselves. Piggy and Tilly are not the real names of the characters. Piggy is not his real name the boys give him that name because of his weight and the boys like to make fun of him for his weight. Tilly is named after the Tighlman Island because that is where she came from when Brady says “ Tilly’s is named after the Tighlman Island that’s where she came from”(Forgot page#). The comparison is that the characters are named after something about
