MATERIALS AND METHOD FOR BURN SCAR BIOMECHANIC

BURN WOUND GENERATION
All experiments and data collection were performed following approved protocols of the Ohio State University Institutional Laboratory Animal Care and Use Committee. A female red Duroc pig was maintained on standard chow ad libitum and being fasted overnight at other piggery. The animal had been anesthetized with Telazol and isoflurance. Anesthetic is a rapid and reversible drug-induced change in behavior or perception. Then the dorsal trunk of the pig was been shaved and being put alternating 2% chlorhexidine and 70% alcohol scrub. Chlorhexidine is a moderate surface active agent and as such will interact with lipid which is more active against the viruses with a lipid membrane.

At 28 days after burn, pig circumference in picture B was measured and compression garments were applied at a 10 percent reduction in circumference and vest with no reduction in circumference was placed over control burns. To evaluate the magnitude of pressure exerted by the compression garments, compression garment fabric was wrapped around a load cell of a mechanical tester (TestResources, Shakopee, Minn) at a 10 percent reduction in circumference and pressure was tracked continuously for 12hours. A representative plot of pressure versus time was reported in picture C which shows quantification of pressure was generated by a compression garment fitted to a 10 percent reduction in circumference

SCAR CONTRACTION
The scars of the pig had been taken some pictures at day 0,7,28,42,56 and 78. The scar contraction was quantified using computer planimetry and defined as total scar area including hyperpigmented border. Hyperpigmented is the increase in a natural color of the skin.
LASSER DOPLER
A visible red laser beam had been used to map tissue blood flow using control and pressure garment therapy scars immediately after garment

The process of wound healing is altered in aged individuals, historically being considered as defective; however there is now a general consensus that the healing in the elderly may be delayed, though the final result is qualitatively similar to that in younger generations. (Gosain and DiPietro, 2004) Multiple factors can lead to impaired wound healing.…
