Drake McBride’s (See government file 1978f7stz1 for more info on Drake McBride) very wealthy father was very fed up with his son. His father gave him many companies to own, yet in the end, all of his companies failed and he lost significant amounts of money. Drake McBride’s father gave his son his last chance to own a company and make a fortune: the Red Diamond Energy Corporation, an oil drilling company. Drake McBride, who was the president of the company, decided to move start it in Florida, because there were too many drilling operations in Texas, so there was lots of competition.
Since Drake McBride barely knew anything about the oil drilling industry, he hired Jimmy Lee Bayliss, a retired man who had experience from ExxonMobil who was to be the project manager for the Red Diamond Energy …show more content…
First, (as stated in Jimmy Lee Bayliss’s confession) the police (a man named Detective Jason Marshall) tracked down the buyer of the two butane torches and they were led to the conclusion that Jimmy Lee Bayliss set the fire and framed a minor who had a history of arson. The police knew that Jimmy Lee Bayliss framed the kid to keep the Red Diamond Energy Corporation’s scam a secret , so Drake McBride was eventually arrested, too. Drake McBride was also charged for trying to shoot a panther and escaping the police. Finally, (before the two men were arrested) someone by the name of George W. Hayduke gave a fish and game warden the GPS coordinates to some panther poop in the Black Vine
