For my experiment, I choose to use both the red and green color lens filters. I initially was going to select blue, but when realizing it did little alteration apart from making white appear brighter I opted for a red and green filter. Like both my mother and father, I have Deuteranomalia which means I have a difficult time discerning from reds (appearing more brown) and greens (appearing more yellow). While my father has deuteranopia meaning his green cone is missing, I suffer from deuteranomaly, which makes it hard for me to distinguish between reds, yellows, and greens. By using the red and green filters, both colors which I already have a hard time distinguishing, my color-deficiency drastically increased. What colors I can normally distinguish became even harder to see. With the green filter, the sky which normally appears blue, became largely grey (with a tinge of yellow) despite it being a cloudless day. Shades of greens also became harder to distinguish, with shades predominantly becoming darker. Grass, my plants, my friend sweatshirt all became harder to distinguish. Hues, which I normally would be able to tell the difference from became the same overwhelming yellow color. …show more content…
The sky which was grey under the green filter, became “yellowish-green” under the red filter. Under the red filter, the grass, the surrounding plants and the sky all became the same monotonous “yellow-green” color. Even the brick buildings of the Gorham campus blended into the scenery. The color white, which normally is extremely bright for me faded, becoming duller and more grey. Overall, with the red filter, my surrounding enormously changes.
