Landfills Vs Waste Recycling
Significance of Waste Disposal in Sustainability Efforts Waste disposable techniques are …show more content…
Instead of throwing waste in the backyard or littering, landfills allow trash to be thrown out at a specific area. This does not require time on the part of citizens to find where they should throw out their trash. Instead, they can leave their garbage cans at the end of their driveway and allow the waste management company employed in their county to take care of the trash. The garbage is then sent to the landfill, which is the only assigned place for the waste to go. This allows the landfill to be monitored (“Advantages and Disadvantages of Landfills” ). Once a landfill is closed, it can be used for recreational purposes. After enough garbage has been put into a landfill, it will be closed up by burying the waste into the ground. The surface of this area can be turned into parks, resorts, and golf courses. Residential properties are not built in this area due to settling hazards, but the attractions that can be built are good for the surrounding community (“Landfills: A History of Waste Disposal” )

For instance, trees are continually being cut down, and recycled paper is re-used repeatedly. Conserving forests will also help the environment, because trees improve air and provide raw materials. This, in turn, allows humans to breathe and have more materials at their disposal (7).
Recycling additionally reduces energy consumption. A large amount of energy is consumed by processing raw materials at the time of manufacture, and recycling helps to minimize that energy consumption. This reduction in energy consumption can also decrease the amount pollution associated with creating energy. This includes the production of industrial products such as cans, chemicals, and plastics. These materials are being re-used, and not just being thrown away (“Advantages and Disadvantages of Recycling” ).
Global warming is decreases when we recycle. Large amounts of greenhouse gas emissions (Carbon dioxide and Chlorofluorocarbon’s) are produced when waste is burned in large portions. Recycling ensures that the burning process is minimized and the waste is re-generated as a useful product. Additionally, less greenhouse gases are produced. The sustainable use of resources is promoted when we recycle. Sustainability ensures that there is no discriminate use of material when plenty is still available
