Recycling Laws: A Short Story

Good Essays
One day Charles was sauntering down the street and he started watching the little girls double dutch. Charles was nervous to go talk to the girls but he knew he wanted to jump too. Then out of nowhere an empty milk carton rolled down the street that was to the right of him. Charles turned to see what it was and he came across these two women around the age of late 40’s and early 50’s. He did not know what the women were doing but as he approached the women he noticed they were digging through the garbage. Charles found it very strange that two old women were rummaging through the trash, so he asked the women why were they digging through the trash. One of the lady’s name was Selma the other was Wilma. Selma replied to the young boy and said …show more content…
Charles nodded with agreement and told the ladies that he would try to influence others to help recycle and then Wilma said “Recycling should be mandatory in Charlotte, NC because without recycling global warming is getting worse, recycling is also profitable for cities and residents, and raw materials are nonrenewable.” Recycling should be mandatory in Charlotte, NC because without recycling global warming is getting worse. When using virgin materials to make products it puts more on the earth rather than when using recycled goods. "Recycling works in much the same way. Also when recycling aluminum it saves more energy than regular products like paper and plastic. Recycling is ecologically superior to using virgin materials. When you make aluminum from recycled cans instead of bauxite ore, you save 95 percent of the energy” (Weeks, 1). Statistically proven that when recycling goods, it uses less energy to make a product rather than using brand new materials to make a product. “It takes less energy to recycle materials for reuse than it does to create new …show more content…
"But what is not so widely known is that recycling can be an important weapon in the fight against global warming — and how easy it is for all of us to play a role in that fight" ( Pratt, 1). Simply implying that people do not see recycling as a way to help global warming, but to just recycle for a small benefit. Something as small as recycling water bottles to something as big as recycling a car battery could all help save the humanity of people and it causes many changes to the weather. People are investing in climate change, by using more energy with the use of virgin materials to make new products. “Recycling can definitely help us fight global climate change, or at least minimize the rate of the change. By recycling, you can help to reduce the need for the extraction of virgin raw materials from the earth, through activities such as mining and deforestation. This is important because mining and deforestation activities contribute substantially to pollution and the emission of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. In addition, deforestation also reduces

Preventing the initial release of carbon dioxide is the most obvious solution to decrease carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, but it is impossible because of human are too dependent on fossil fuels. However, Carbon dioxide emissions can be regulated. The most basic way to regulate carbon dioxide emission would be to apply a carbon tax or fossil fuel tax (Gerlagh and Zwaan). These taxes would force humans to reduce the use of fossil fuels or pay a fine. This solution is advantageous because it easy to implement.…

Transport is another great contributor of global warming. This is because vehicles release harmful gases such as carbon dioxide. To minimize this effect, mass transportation systems can be applied instead of having many vehicles and also avoiding the use of high-carbon fuels for vehicles. Renewable energy usage for instance wind and geothermal, minimizes pollution which in turn reduces global warming. The use of fossil fuel energy should also be done away with.…

The pollution created by most petroleum vehicles is a big cause of global warming. As pointed out by: Siena Kaplan, Brad Heavner, and Rob Sargent, "Plug-in cars ... produce less global warming pollution, emit little or no pollution from the tailpipe, and reduce our dependence on oil” (Plug-in Electric Vehicles Will Reduce Air Pollution). One of the most important things we need to consider, is where we get our energy. Some parts of the country obtain their energy from coal; which is not a clean source of energy for pollution reduction. The energy source we need to advance in, is clean energy.…

It reduces energy consumption, global warming, and the amount of waste in landfills. It also creates jobs and promotes the sustainable use of resources. The only problem is that recycling is not cost effective right now, but eventually it will be more profitable than waste disposal. So people should recycle to reduce pollution and protect the…

Replacing gasoline cars with these non polluting battery powered cars would cut down on air pollution, save money, and would save fossil fuels. Battery power is safer for the environment than gasoline cars that are terrible for the environment. Battery powered cars don’t pollute the air with toxic gases, since they do not burn gasoline, and are better for the Earth. Gasoline cars burn gasoline and create a terrible fog like pollution called smog, this can be stopped by battery powered cars. Along with the prevention of smog, they also don’t produce gases that deplete the ozone layer,…

The first and foremost thing we can do to help is by reducing our energy demand. This can be anything from not driving as much to not using our heaters or air conditioners as much. For example, our car exhausts release bother aerosols and greenhouse gases: which are water vapor and CO2. These are two things that we do not need more have in our atmosphere. If we can find a way to both drive less and less emissions of these things from our car, then we are one step closer to creating a healthier environment.…

After the first global warning signs the union of concerned scientists came up with new ideas which can decrease global warming. The first sign was found during sunset, discharging volcanic gasses out of carbon dioxide sculpture. Increasing Carbon dioxide can prevent by maintaining forests, plant trees and preserve the rain forests and capture the gas before reaching the atmosphere and store it in underground cavities. As we known Carbon dioxide is the main cause of change in temperatures, using cycle, waking and hybrid cars. Also, green electricity in future of energy, renewable sources such as solar, wind and wave power and hot rocks without affecting environment can help to reduce global warming.…

CB3 Recycling Go outside, smell that, that 's fresh air but the air we breath ain’t as fresh as it should be. Don’t be trashy recycle. We should be saving the things that make fresh air not using all of before we can replace it.How much would it cost to have recycling places instead of landfills. When we recycle we are making the air smell better and fresher without fresh air it will be hard to breath and no one would want to breath anyways. “While many people believe it is okay to recycle, others feels that recycling is wrong because some products aren’t safe.” Recycling should be enforced in all 50 states not just a few of the states.…
