Recycling Make Greens Go Gaga Analysis

Our generation has been told that if we do not recycle, we will live in a world of waste. The world will be destroyed from all the harvesting of resources, and costs will soar because of the expenses that comes from extraction of raw materials. The author of “Recycling make greens go gaga, but it’s a real burden for the rest of us,” William Shughart II, argues the opposite. He says that the reharvesting of the raw material is more cost efficient and more environmentally friendly than the recycling and reprocessing of the once used plastic and glass. Shughart is correct in saying glass is more effective to remake rather than recycle because of the natural abundance of sand. He also gives the example of plastic doing more harm than good to recycle; however, Shughart only informs the reader of the short term benefits rather than the long term cost expenditure of remaking plastic from the modest amounts of crude oil.
