Recycling In America

Improved Essays
Americans embody approximately 5% of the world’s populace, but produce nearly 30% of the world’s garbage. I generate quite a bit of waste on a daily basis, however, I repurpose or recycle most of what is thrown away. Items that can be recycled are placed in certain receptacles. I have a compost to take care of food items and there are items that I repurpose into other functional things to use around the house. As much as I like to live a green life, I do have my moments of throwing away things into the trash that I forget to recycle. Sometimes my milk, shampoo and detergent bottles get thrown away along with aluminum cans. I sometimes wonder whether the recycling actually is recycled, or does it get blended in the landfill out of convenience

This topic got my interest because we see it everywhere, Colin goes into detail and discusses a lot of facts about it. An interesting observation was made regarding the black color of trash bags, that the reason trash bags are black instead of transparent is because people do not or cannot deal with seeing what is inside of them. Another related topic that always gets my concerns is recycling our waste. There are a lot of people that don’t recycle and just don’t care.…
