I attended training for my upcoming missions trip during RecWeek. Part of my training at RecWeek I had to practice some behaviors that differ from my own, that centered around general dimensions of wellness and influence. I studied different cultures and practices and studied God’s word--all the way from Genesis to Revelations--as it concerns missional acts, practices and behaviors. I see myself as a more open minded individual, willing to embrace the uncomfortable in order to step out of my bubble. Even though, it was still difficult to stay positive about my experience at RecWeek, thankfully I was given some practical tools and mnemonics for remaining unbiased during training. Unfortunately, halfway through my time the second week of RecWeek, I had to go home. I left came the third night with nothing but what I brought to camp the week before. I had to take care of logistics for my trip, but everything worked out in the end. Before I left, I had wonderful times of prayer and words of encouragement, even after I returned home.
This past Sunday, sitting in the congregation looking at the recent 2018 graduates, it really put things in perspective for me--I’m going on a missions trip! I’m excited for what this trip will do for me and after my experience at RecWeek and being home, my heart has been uplifted.
