The Matrix: Recurrent Imagery Analysis

Introduction As stated by Goodale, (2007, p. 56) any recurrent element or technique in writing has a symbolic significance. For instance, most of the authors make use of the recurrent imagery to produce the aspect of mood or impression. How the author repeatedly use imagery for the above purpose while making the story meaningful is always interesting. Similarly, from the reading “The Matrix” by Larry and Andy Wachowski, we can see this aspect of recurrent imagery, which seems to have achieved a significant purpose of this piece. This script was written back in the year 1998 but remains relevant today because of how it presents events successfully by use of imagery (Crystal, 2004, p. 66). Even at the beginning of this writing, we see the authors introduce to what is happening “On Computer Screen,” (Larry and Wachowski, p. 01) an indication that imagery is their strong stylistic device, recurrent throughout this piece. If this is not much convincing, then consider that Larry and Andy Wachowski have recurrently used the imagery to make the plot of this script. At first, the author uses …show more content…

The use of a simile helps the reader to compare the people and jungle cats, where the author brings on board the fierce mood that the people had. In addition to this, because of the soothing quality of trinity’s voice, Neo feels it like a drug received through him (Larry and Wachowski, p. 13). With the knowledge of how people feel when they take a drug, the reader gets to picture how Neo heard Trinity’s voice.
