Personally, I believe that every person should be able to have a support system because not too many have the pleasure of having it. To show what a supportive system is having someone there to listen, motivate, inspire, and care of a person well being. When reading "The Lived Experience of Serious Mental Illness" it brought joy to me because she manages to marry someone who cared for her and has such a loving heart. This is what support is about she had her mental illness and David has muscular dystrophy perhaps the reason why they understood each other was because they had something powerful in common. There 's a quote from the story I agree with and I 've been told by many people in the field that "In order to talk to the pain, one must allow oneself to feel the pain and then something can be done" this a touching quote because in order to understand a person 's pain and struggle one must live through it to feel the pain and struggles others has faced. If a person hasn 't lived a moment of pain they wouldn’t understand clients when they talk about pain. This recovery story wasn 't one where it was a first person, it was more about how anyone can recover and tools needed for a good recovery. As it is mentioned in the story "Recovery is a process, a way of living and caring" recovery doesn 't happen one night to the next it may take weeks, months, years to be recovered. Many mental illness clients face being criticized due to their mental illness a lot of the time this takes away focus and wants from this person, to be looked at differently, talked about, and judged is something hurtful. For this person it was a side effect of weight gain, and through eating, she was coping her bipolar disorder. As per me my side effect is the complete opposite I’ve actually been losing weight since I’ve been on my medication I’m not to please about but I just don’t seem to have an appetite. Her story is very motivated because She knew what what’s wrong and she knew just what to do to get help. she went and found help at a dietitian at the health service in Washington, University.
