After viewing the film Recount I have came to the conclusion that the 2000 general U.S. election between Al Gore and George Bush was skewed. The voting process in Florida at that time was without a doubt faulty and if the State of Florida had no special interest in the general election they would have not been so mysterious throughout the recount process. In specific Katherine Harris, Florida Secretary of State made it obvious that she indeed favored the Bush campaign. This is true as she went to the extent of twisting State law by claiming that the only way to extend the recount deadline was if there was a “natural disaster” when the law actually states that it is up to the person in her position to decide if an extension is necessary.
