When a person becomes a lawyer, they pledge to help all people, and that would include black people, white people, innocent, or guilty. Atticus seems like a person with good morals. He almost immediately takes on the case, knowing that no one else will defend Tom, and that justice will no be served if he is not represented. He even tells Scout that he wouldnﰁt be able to tell her to do something ever again if he didnﰁt defend Tom. During the trial Atticus also shows that he looks at the evidence from a fair standpoint.
